3 Days

Let's Talk 3Days....
I was raised and always taught, when making a decision about something important, wait 3 days. If I am rushed into a decision that I need to know right at that very moment, my answer is always No. Wait 3 days. It gives you time to process it rationally and emotionally with out force. Even if you are having a bad day or going through a bad time and you just want to give up. Wait 3 days. Your outlook can and usually does totally change after 3 days. This teaching started with my religious upbringing. My dad would say to me, Jesus had the worse day of His life on Friday, but Sunday, 3 days later, He made history. 2000 years later we are still talking about it.
And I must admit, it has always worked for me, even in the very tough times. Or shall I say especially in the tough times. This even works with simple decisions that you really just don't know what to do. I'm not saying constantly think about it for 3 days. I am saying just ask, what shall I do and let it go. The answer will come and be made very clear. You will either see signs or just feel differently about the whole thing. You will be able to make the decision in peace instead of stress.  So, if you are feeling indecisive, pressured, down, frustrated or frightened......Wait 3 Days.

Thoughts

Let's Talk Thoughts.....

When I first started this journey, I read that your suppose to constantly monitor your
thoughts, you were suppose to be careful what you think. Well, all this did was cause me
fear about what I was thinking. It was also causing me much stress watching and examining every one of my thoughts. And I found myself giving up many times because of this. It seemed too hard if not impossible.
What I've come to learn is, if your afraid or stressed, you're doing it wrong. And this goes pretty much for anything. But let's stick with thoughts. What you actually need to do is just be aware of your thoughts. Let them pass through. Thoughts will come and they will go. The secret is letting them go. Take a back seat and watch them go by. What you focus on you get more of. Don't take them so seriously. And whatever you do, don't be afraid of them. Love them and make them your friends. This has worked wonders for me. Just be aware of ones that keep recurring. That is a sign of a belief. So if you don't like that thought or that belief, it's time to change it. Because beliefs are what create your life. If you want to know what your real thoughts are, what your real beliefs are, listen to what you say. Listen to the words that are coming out of you mouth. I surprised myself many times with what I said, even in a joking manner. The good news is thoughts and beliefs and words can be changed. Have fun with it. Relax with it. Also, don't beat yourself up for what you think or say, we are all just learning here. With practice it will all come easy. Believe in yourself!

Power

Let's Talk POWER...

Power, its one of our most priceless personal assets, but we tend to give it away, and in some cases, throw it away to any person or situation that upsets us. We feel powerful and strong when things are going our way, its easy to do that. But the measure of True POWER is standing strong in the moment of adversity. Great people did not achieve greatness by throwing the towel in, by throwing themselves a pity party, by giving there power up to difficulties. NO! They stood tall and pushed through no matter what! They had that.....”Nothing and no one is going to stop me attitude!” I believe weakness is nothing more then a habit we picked up and learned. The good news about that is, habits can be broken. Being comfortable with your own power can be achieved! It takes practice. When you catch yourself feeling weak, stop, recognize it and be willing to change it. All it takes is a decision! Decide to know and hold on to your power.

I had a cat named Talula. She was old and feeble (but not really). She knew her power. When my daughters mastiff, Scarlet, would visit. This huge mountain of a dog would quiver at the sight of the small simple cat. I use to laugh and say, “that dog does not know her power, but that cat sure does.” I can't help but believe we are the same way in life. A small situation arises in our life and hisses at us and we quiver in the presence of it because we perceive it to be much stronger, bigger and more powerful then us. But in truth, we are so much more powerful then anything that confronts us. We just need to hold on to that power, through thick and thin. Power is like a muscle, the more you use it the stronger you will get. Faith and trust in your self are the barbells to help develop this muscle. So don't let anything stand in the way of your happiness and peace! Know your Power!

Letting Go

Let's Talk Letting Go.....

I was sitting on my swing one morning before work and I was enjoying the beautiful autumn colors and the beautiful warm sun on my face. I heard rustling from the trees and looked to see what was making a the noise. The gentle breeze was tossing the leaves back and forth and they were floating to the ground. It was so loud, it got my attention. I've experienced fall many times before, but this time was different. It was as if the trees and leaves were trying to tell me something..... Let Go..... Release.... Just Let Go of what doesn't serve you any more. Because if the leaves stayed on the trees, the weight of the snow and the winter wind could break branches and weaken the tree itself. That could also go for people. If we don't let go our our disappointments, fears, regrets, sorrows, grief of the past, we take it to our future, and that can weigh us down and weaken us. Like the trees, we need to release and let go, so we can move forward with ease into the spring of new birth and growth. A great Letting Go technique is EFT Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping). There are many free videos on YouTube by Brad Yates for EFT. So if your feeling weak, your carrying to much past around. Just Let Go!

Support

Let's Talk Support....

Many people say to each other, “I will support you, no matter what the decision is that you make”. Sometimes it is said, because they can be there for you 100% and be with you through it all. And sometimes it is said because they just want to be liked and really have no care in the out come. They want to tell you what you want to hear.

Then there are people who can't say it at all. Don't take this personally. Because maybe, just maybe, it's not about you, it's about them. Just because you are strong and ready to make a life changing decision, doesn't mean everyone else is ready to handle it. Every decision you make, affects those around you. They know what they can handle and what they can approve of in their life. Maybe they are traveling a different path then you all together. Or, maybe they perceive a different out come for you and they don't want to be apart of it.

I personally think some people get a bad rap for being labeled “not supportive”. Maybe they are having a hard time supporting themselves and they just can't take on any more. It is great and wonderful to be supported in all your decisions and that you have strong people around you. However, if you don't, it's ok. “I can't support you or your decision” IS NOT “I don't love you”. It sometimes means.. “ I love you so much, I don't want you hurt, because I can't handle that.”

Preparedness

Let's Talk Preparedness...

We prepare for parties, holidays, traveling, and vacations. Preparing makes things easier and go smoother. So what do you do to prepare for the next day, the next month or the next storm? What I like to do is carry a picture or a quote, so when I look at it, it instantly calms me down, grounds me and brings me back to a place of peace. When something comes up, I know just what to do before I get carried away in any drama. It can be easy to get carried away in the drama of the world, but it also can be easy to get focused and clear and back to peace. Find something that works for you, whether it be a picture, a quote or a song, an affirmation, etc.

It's not only good to prepare for storms, but also for your everyday lives. Read inspiring books, listen to motivational talks (there are many on YouTube) or say affirmations. I guess what I'm trying to say is, Prepare For Your Happiness! Put some effort into enriching your week, your month, or your year. You Are Worth It! Practice daily routines that feed your soul. Like physical exercise develops strong muscles and good health, mental and spiritual exercises develops a strong attitude and spirit. Prepare and watch your life go smoother.
